I first meet Monty when he was in Ruidoso and I was at the Fiala’s home. It was obvious that he was a great guy and kidder. Lots of jokes went back and forth. As time went by I heard how much love and effort he gave to the Fiala’s. Especially Alan, for they had become like brothers. It was such a sweet gesture for them to chat on a regular basis almost daily. I don’t believe Alan has ever had such a close friendship. When the tragedy hit them both their homes last June, Monty was able to come to Ruidoso and help nearly everyone on the “block”. Monty’s love and kindness and laughter will be greatly missed. My heart grieves with the Fiala’s that his presence is no longer on that mountain.

Monty was such a great friend to my parents and especially to my Alan Fiala. They could talk on the phone for hours about all sorts of things. I remember how excited my parents were to go visit Monty and the family in Texas. Ever since we bought our vacation cabin, turned permanent house for my parents, Monty and the whole family were very welcoming. I’m especially appreciative for all that Monty did in support of the cleanup and restoration to the little mountain neighborhood after the devastating forest fire this past summer. I’m deeply saddened by his passing and the impact it has on everyone close to him. The Blacklock family is in my hearts and prayers.

Monty was such a happy, helpful part of our little community up on the ridge in Ruidoso. We always looked forward to his arrival and seeing him taking his mom around in the side-by-side up into the mountains.
He was always upbeat and positive, willing to help and very skilled in so many areas. RIP Monty…… you’re missed but not forgotten.

No thesaurus has enough synonyms for kind, giving, benevolent and loving to explain the joy and love Monty spread to everyone and ever occasion. His smile and laugh lit up rooms and lives. When I think of Monty, I always break out into a sly grin that moves into a full blown smile. Half the time I also laugh! He was the kindest, most giving and fun man. We loved listening to him tell us about anything, anything. You nailed it when you said he was a consummate storyteller!! He was also full of information, knowledge and wisdom. He lived a full life!
Linda, you were the love of his life! The 10+ years he spent with his “bride” were his best.
Makenna-Sage- we feel like we know you from how proud he was of you.
Justin and Jennifer were his other kids as were Melanie and Allison.
We will never truly get over the fact he is not physically with us. We will forever treasure that our memories of so many times and so much love and fun include him. Our love and prayers abound for his whole family!
