Obituary

Jesse Lee Wied, 69 of Brenham, Texas passed away Sunday, November 21, 2004 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan, Texas.

Jesse Lee was born August 17,1935 in Ellinger, Fayette County, Texas. Jesse Lee graduated from Fayetteville Rural High School in 1953, and graduated from Texas A&M in 1961, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Education and a Master’s Degree in Plant Sciences in 1965. Prior to receiving his Master’s Degree, he taught agriculture at Fayetteville Rural High School for four (4) years. He was an Instructor at Blinn Junior College from 1967 to 1998, teaching botany and plant taxonomy.

Jesse Lee raised Hereford cattle for over 50 years. On October 25, 2004 Jesse Lee and his wife Polly traveled to Kansas City, Missouri to receive an award for having raised Hereford cattle for over 50 years. His hobbies included auctioneering, polka dancing, raising Hereford cattle and spending time with his family and his best buddy John Lane.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Polly Janda Wied; son Jesse Lee Wied, Jr. and wife Laura of Monroe, Louisiana; daughters Janice Marie Pritchard and husband Rex of Tyler, Texas and Joyce Lynn Dickschat and husband Brian of Brenham, Texas; seven grandchildren Mary Amanda Wied, Katherine Leigh Wied, Hannah Virginia Wied, Anna Louise Pritchard, Elise Lydia Pritchard, Joseph Lee Dickschat and John Lane Dickschat; sisters Mary Louise Hernandez and Annie Schertz both of LaGrange, Texas; also numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse August and Louise Marie Wied.

The Wied family will receive visitors from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2004 followed by a Rosary recited by Monsignor Benedict Zientek at 7:30 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2004 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Brenham, Texas with Father David Ivey as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Fayetteville Catholic Cemetery in Fayetteville, Texas.

Pallbearers are Brian Dickschat, Berry Lee Malkey, Carroll “Butch” Faske, Willie Hall, Doug Pierce, Kenneth French. Honorary pallbearers are Joseph Lee Dickschat and John Lane Dickschat.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, The American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
