Obituary
Gilbert Cyril Motl, 99, of Brenham was called to his Lord on August 16, 2024 with family by his side.
Gilbert was born on July 6, 1925, in Wallis, Texas, to Bernard and Amalie (Svajda) Motl. After graduating from Wallis High School, he proudly served in the US Army during World War II in the European theatre. After his service he continued his education at Blinn College and the University of Texas. Gilbert married Willie Mae Janis in 1954 in El Campo, Texas. He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a Chief Operator for Union Carbide, retiring after 38 years. Gilbert was a dedicated member of the KJT and the Knights of Columbus.
A fun and loving family man, Gilbert cherished traveling with his family to Colorado, where he enjoyed camping and fishing. He had a passion for visiting and learning about historic markers and painted churches throughout Texas. When not traveling, Gilbert could be found playing golf or watching collegiate football, with a particular fondness for his UT Longhorns. He and Willie Mae loved dancing, especially the polka. When they were at home, they loved to watch the Molly B Polka Show.
In addition to his parents, Gilbert is preceded in death by his siblings Elizabeth (Bessie), Mary, Benjamin (Ben), Ervin, and Dorothy (Doris).
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Willie Mae; children Gregory (Linda), Yvonne (Joe), Alan (+Louann), Lloyd (Ronda), and Paul (Tonya); grandchildren Lisa (Michael), Bethany (Geoff), Christine (Sam), Michelle (Dale), Kimberly (Jake), Michael (Natalie), Amalie, Mary, Matthew, Dustin, Hayley, Valerie, and Drew; great grandchildren Ava, Abby, Jonah, Finley, Caleb, Benjamin, Rachel, Nadiya, Kairyn, Jaxyn, and Raelyn; brother Louis Motl and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00am with Father Edwin Kagoo officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
