Verdell Mahlmann, 70, of Brenham passed away Saturday, October 11, 2008 in St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, TX.
Verdell was born October 8, 1938 in Mill Creek Community to Charlie and Maeta Meyer Maass. She was baptized on December 4, 1938 by Rev. E. Eiben and confirmed on April 6, 1952 by Rev. E. H. Schwengel and on December 14, 1958 she married Dennis H. Mahlmann at St. John’s Evangelical & Reformed Church in Burton by Rev. E. H. Schwengel. She graduated from Brenham High School. Verdell was a salesperson at Brenham Saddle Shop. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome and enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Maeta Maass; mother and father-in-law George and Ottile Mahlmann; sister Mae Del Eben; sister-in-law Bernice Mahlmann; nephew Kevin Eben; niece Rita Mahlmann and granddaughter Taylor Mahlmann.
Survivors include her husband Dennis H. Mahlmann; sons and daughters-in-law Greg and Cathy Mahlmann, Keith and Sherry Mahlmann, Reece and Nancy Mahlmann; grandchildren Everett and Samantha Mahlmann, Dallas and Grant Mahlmann, Chase and Reece Hanna Mahlmann; brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Evelyn Maass; sister and brother-in-law Peggy and Jim Edwards; brother-in-law Lawrence Eben, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Rueben and Dorothy Mahlmann. Verdell always appreciated the visits from Edgar and Ruby Lentz, Alice Brune, Erline Sommerfeld and Angelie Goeke.
Visitation with family present will be from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, October 14th at Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 15th in Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome with Reverend David M. Klak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Mahlmann, Ron Mahlmann, Gina Riley, Michelle Maass, Melissa Maass, Randy Land and Stephen Land. Grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Memorials may be given to Welcome Lutheran Church Building Fund.
