Ellen Ward Crocker

Ellen Crocker, 84 of Brenham, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2011 in St. Joseph Hospital, Bryan.

She was born December 9, 1926 in Baytown, TX to Jack and Altha (Whitson) Ward. She was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, Baytown and attended the University of Texas. In a garden wedding at her parent’s home in Baytown on June 10, 1950, she married Delbert Crocker. She was a homemaker, a bible teacher, worked as a real estate broker and lived in Victoria for 50 years. Ellen adored her grandchildren and always enjoyed the “cousin hops”.

She volunteered at The American Cancer Society where she held several state positions. She was active in her church and presently a member of Brenham Church of Christ.

Survivors include: husband of 60 years, Delbert Crocker of Brenham; children, Janet and Everett Booe of Tulsa, OK, Gary and Angela Crocker of Brenham, Glen and Lynda Crocker of Houston, Carol and Jim Bunkley of Richardson, Duane and Monica Crocker of Victoria; grandchildren, Jonathan Booe, Taylor and wife Tyra Booe, Emily Crocker, Gregory Crocker, Kelly Crocker, Marcy Crocker, Ally Crocker, Hunter Bunkley, Ashton Crocker, Austin Crocker, Jackson Crocker, Madeline Crocker; sister Ethel Friermood of Baytown; brothers, John and wife Pat Ward of Stafford, Buddy and wife Gloria Ward of Normangee.

She was preceded in death by sister Margaret Beth Dumas.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 31st from 6-8 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 1st at 2 p.m. in Brenham Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
