Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sean Casey. He left us on October 13, 2024 at his home in Brenham, surrounded by his family and friends. Sean was born on February 3, 1987 in Houston.

Sean is preceded in death by his partner Alex Galvan; his beloved grandparents, Pam and Fred Gardner and Don and Coralee Casey.

He leaves behind his heartbroken mother and twin sister, Connie McRee and Alex Grace; His stepfather, Ken McRee; and his uncles, aunts, niece, and nephews Tom, Jocelyn, and Ethan Casey; Michael, Jian, and Moli Casey; and Kelly, Matthew, and Henry Heintzelman.

Sean graduated from the High School for Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA) in Houston and Maryland Institute and College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore and was working on his certification to teach art.

Sean was a true light in our lives. He was a brilliant artist. He worked mostly in mixed media art pieces. He could make something beautiful from anything including pottery, furniture, wood, metal, fabric, and most of his art was made of discarded or found items. He also loved to quilt. He worked with the wonderful ladies of the Jubilee Quilt Circle in Houston and they became true treasured friends to him.

Sean is so missed by his family and friends and we will be celebrating his life through his extraordinary art, the impact of his gentle spirit, and in our memories.
