Sandra Carlile

Sandra Carlile, 72, died at home on December 15, 2021. Lovingly known as Wella, she lived in Brenham close to her children and grandchildren.

She was born in Rio Grande City on June 22, 1949 to Alvin Gurka and Jennie Beidler who also precede her in death. She is survived by her two sisters Roxanne Hudson, and Dianna Gurka McAulay. She was also preceded in death by her sister Jennie Davila.

Sandra loved and influenced folks wherever she lived such as Corpus Christi, Beeville, Paris, and Brenham, Texas. She also lived and loved in Chugiak, Alaska where she made some forever friends.

While living in Corpus working for Amoco, she met and married James Carlile and they have been married for 46 years residing in Brenham, Texas.

She lived for and loved dearly her kids and grandkids who include her son Joddie Carlile, and his wife Holly; Jennifer Rosenbaum and her husband Richard, and her Grandkids Jake Carlile, Joe Carlile and Silas Rosenbaum.

Laughter is what she enjoyed, and she laughed a lot. If you had a sense of humor, she appreciated it. Her other joys were babies and books. She was an avid reader and she could talk for hours with her kids and grandkids. Her hugs were the BEST and you couldn’t leave her house without getting one to go.

In lieu of flowers or a service, please consider a donation to Hospice Brazos Valley or to the endowment fund set up in her honor at the First Baptist Church School where all her grand kids went from 1st thru 6th grades. Sandra loved the school, the kids, and the teachers there. One of her favorite things to do was attend the Texas Celebration every year to help raise money for the school.
