Obituary

Roe Weinschenk, 88, of Brenham, Texas was called home by his Lord and Savior on March 3, 2022 with his loving family by his side. Roe was born in Durand, Michigan on September 28, 1933 to Glen and Ruth Weinschenk.

After graduating high school, Roe went in the Army and served in the Korean War. Roe married his high school sweetheart, Carol Sue Williams, on October 10, 1953 and they had four children. Roe was honorably discharged from the Army. He went to work on the railroad in Durand, Michigan. He later went on to become a tool and die maker for General Motors. He worked on aviation equipment in El Cajon, California. He retired from MIC in Brenham, Texas.

Roe was a loving husband, father and grandpa. He enjoyed camping trips with family in California, loved the outdoors, fishing, gardening and sports. Roe loved spending time with his wife – they enjoyed taking rides in the countryside. Roe loved the family dog, Muffin! Roe loved the Lord and led his family in church at El Cajon Wesleyan Church and later Assembly of God and Vineyard in Brenham, Texas. He served in all three churches.

Roe is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Kris and Jeffrey Weinschenk; two brothers, Billie and Art Weinschenk and two daughters in law, Allison and Celena Weinschenk and sister in law, Mary Ann Williams. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Carol Sue Weinschenk; two children, Greg Weinschenk and Michelle Schmidt (Darrell); brother in law, Harry Van Woert (Penny); sister in law, Janet Ward; grandchildren, Matt Wise (Norma), Sarah Wise, Addie Weinschenk, Jacob Weinschenk (Tiffany), Scott, Lacie and Sierra Weinschenk; great-grandchildren, Trae, Mylo and Max Reeves, Matt, Haley and Madison Wise, Caleb (Linda) and Jacob Perez.

Roe will be greatly missed. He loved life and fought hard to stay strong and live independently with his wife in their home. Our family would like to thank our caregivers, Haley Wise, Cynthia Clark, Annette Ware, Jackie Madison and Carolyn Mathis. We would also like to thank the aides, Food Service and the medical team at Baylor Scott & White in Brenham for their care for Mr. Roe.

A visitation for Roe will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 12pm to 7pm with family present from 5 to 7pm at Brenham Memorial Chapel located at 2300 Stringer Street, Brenham, Texas.
