Obituary

Randy Steven Bedford, a resident of Greenvine, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away Monday night at home with his wife of 25 years, after a heroic battle with cancer. Randy was just two weeks shy of his 70th birthday.

Randy was born in San Antonio to Arlas and Jenelle Bedford. A native of Texas, Randy grew up in San Antonio and Austin. Some of his fondest memories were of summers spent with his beloved grandparents who lived and worked on the King Ranch. His career in Accounting and Finance began with Mobil Oil Corporation and culminated with his retirement from Schlumberger in 2021.

He is survived by his immediate family; wife Joyce, daughter and son-in-law Margaret and Athanassios Ververis of Davidsonville, Maryland, two precious granddaughters Winter and Ladika, sisters Arlene Haecker of San Antonio and Sharon Mauricio of Houston, and nephew, Brandon Haecker of San Antonio.

Randy’s favorite pastimes included salt-water fishing, carpentry, boating, and ranch work. He was passionate about aviation and aircraft of all types. His knowledge of World War II rivaled that of any history professor, and he was especially proud of his collection of WWII artwork.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 8th at Brenham Memorial Chapel with family members available from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 9th at 10:00 a.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel officiated by Fr. Stephen Whaley, Rector of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Brenham. A reception following the service will be offered in the community room at the Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Randy contributed to many charities, but a few of his favorites were Habitat for Humanity and Houston SPCA.

Services are in the care of Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer Street, Brenham, TX 77833. 979-836-3611 www.brenhammemorialchapel.com
