Obituary

Mike Derkowski, 79, of Chappell Hill, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009 in Trinity Medical Center.

Mike was born January 12, 1930 in Chappell Hill to parents Tony, Sr. and Rosie Krusleski Derkowski. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. He attended school in Washington County and received an Associate Degree from Blinn College. Mike served his country while in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Florence Bartniski on April 14, 1951. Prior to retirement, Mike was employed by HDL Research Lab and Moeller Electric in Brenham. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Chappell Hill. He enjoyed shelling pecans, crossword puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune and supporting the Astros.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Frank, Charlie, Tom and Steve Derkowski, sister Florence Stockton, grandsons David and Daniel Ware.

His loving family includes wife Florence Derkowski of Chappell Hill; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Debra Derkowski of Brenham; daughter Deborah “Debbie” Ware and significant other Randy Haverlah of New Ulm, TX; grandchildren Ben Michael Ware, Brady Arthur Ware, Mary Elizabeth Derkowski, Brian Joseph Derkowski, Michelle Katheryn Derkowski; brothers and sister-in-law Joe and Ann Derkowski of Franklin, TX, Tony Derkowski, Jr. of New Caney, TX, Bruno Derkowski of Magnolia, TX; sisters and brother-in-law Mary Ann Bacarisse and significant other George Stansel of Houston, Barbara and Herbert Beerwinkel of Chappell Hill; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 p.m., with Rosary at 7 p.m., Thursday, June 25, 2009 in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, June 26th in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Father Vincent Chacko, as Celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers are Anthony Bacarisse, Brad Beerwinkel, John Bilski, Mark Bilski, Andy Mobley, Joey Derkowski, Andrew Derkowski and Jim Stockton.

Memorials may be given to Hospice Brazos Valley.
