Obituary

Melvin Lee Dahse, 89 passed away surrounded by family on July 1, 2024. 

Melvin  was born in Kenney, January 19, 1935 to Ida and Lee Dahse.  He was a graduate of Bellville High School.   He served his Country and was Honorably Discharged from the Army of the United States on April 30, 1963.  Melvin and Rita Dahse were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  In his many years of working in the community, he was employed at Brenham Heating and Air, Farm & Home Center and then went on to open his own small engine repair shop, M&R Equipment where he loved tinkering with small engines and visiting with friends.  

He was devoted to family and always lended a helping hand when they needed him.  He was a life-long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a member of The Brenham Knights of Columbus.   Melvin loved helping Rita at the downtown Farmers Market up until her death in 2018.  

Melvin was preceded in death by his wife Rita, parents Lee and Ida Dahse, brother and sister-in-law, Norbert and Thelma Dahse, parents-in-law, Harry and Helen Kenjura; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Harriet Kubeczka, and brother-in-law, Ernest Witte.

Surviving loving family members include, Sister, Ella Mae Dahse; Sister-in-law Gloria Witte; nieces and nephews, Claudia and Ronnie Walla, Marty and Janice Kubeczka, Mike and Karen Kubeczka; great nieces and nephews, Colten and Tiffany Walla, Dalton Walla and special friend Landon Mendez, Nicole Porsche, Crystal and Joe Hinds; great-great niece and nephew, Bowen Walla and Kinsley Porsche.

At his request, Melvin will be cremated and a private family memorialization will be held.  

Memorials may be given to the National Kidney Foundation.
