Manuel R. Villarreal

Manuel R. Villarreal went peacefully to be with the Lord on December 8, 2018, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Manuel was born on November 17, 1927, in Skidmore, Texas, to Lugardo and Santos R. Villarreal.

He married Maria Consuelo Nolasco on September 9, 1949, and together they raised a family of 12 children.

Manuel was a migrant worker who taught his children the value of working hard. Manuel was the youngest of six brothers and was called “Meme” by his family. He enjoyed playing guitar, fishing, riding horses, telling jokes, and being with his family. He was well respected by those who knew him.

Survivors include six sons, Jose Luis Villarreal, Jose Manuel Villarreal Jr. and Maria, Benjamin Villarreal and Cynthia, Paul Villarreal, Guadalupe Villarreal and Elvira, and Santos Villarreal; five daughters, Margie V. Escamilla, Lydia Villarreal, Suzan V. Yzaguirre and Lupe, Lucia Villarreal, Maria “Connie” and Jorge Lopez; and an adopted daughter Sandra Robertson and James; and 46 grandchildren, 102 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.

Manuel is preceded in death by his parents, Lugardo and Santos R. Villarreal, his wife Maria Consuelo Villarreal, his daughter Jesusita, five brothers, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family would like to give special thanks to caregivers, Sam, Irasema, Yolanda, and the staff from Brazos Valley Hospice for the special care they gave our Dad.

Honorary pallbearers are Gustavo Villarreal and Maria A. Villarreal.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 12, 2018, also at Brenham Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Jorge Lopez officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery.
