Lydia Kramer Goessler, 93, of Brenham passed away Sunday, July 29, 2007 at Trinity Care Center in Brenham.
Mrs. Goessler was born on November 22, 1913 in Prairie Hill, Texas to Fritz and Lina Ellermann Kramer. She was baptized on February 8, 1914 by Pastor Fritz Apfelbach and confirmed by Pastor Paul Gogolin on April 21, 1929, both in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. She attended school at Prairie Hill Public School.
On October 24, 1933 Lydia married Clarence Goessler at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Sandy Hill with Pastor George Czerkus performing the ceremony.
She worked alongside her husband, Clarence Goessler, on their family farm, and was active in 4-H, Home Extension, and the Washington County Fair. Lydia was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville, where she was a longtime member of the WELCA.
Mrs. Goessler spent her life in the service of “all her children” as the oldest daughter of ten children and the mother of a large family. Throughout her life, Lydia helped mold many people. She helped and cared for people her whole life. Although she was not a career woman, politician, or owner of a large and impressive company, the results of her kindness, love, and unselfishness were her contributions to the lives of everyone she touched. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Goessler, her parents, Fritz and Lina Ellermann Kramer, her daughter, Gloria Dahmann, brothers Otto and Charles Kramer, and sister Edna Lehmann.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Esther Goessler of Brenham, daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Richard Hembrock of Sharpsburg, MD, Lois and Thomas Holle of Washington, TX, and Joy and Wayne Fuchs of Burton, TX, son-in-law Wallace Dahmann and his wife, Darleen of William Penn, TX; ten grandchildren and spouses: Doyle and Karin Dahmann, Don and Cheri Dahmann, Dee Ann and Stephen O’Brien, Kathy and Bill Weiss, Sara and Tim Toscano, Joel and Michelle Hembrock, Kelley and Jean Ragusa, Michael and April Fuchs, Susan Holle, and Landry Fuchs and Jennifer Preuss; her thirteen great-grandchildren: Justice and Eedann McCord, Rollin Ogrodowicz, Chad, Devon, and Madison Hembrock, Erik and Rachel Weiss, Peyton, Addison, and Carley Fuchs, Marleigh Toscano, and Alexandre Ragusa; her sisters and brothers-in-law: Verda and Robert Rogge, Mildred Richter, and Helen Gottwald; her brothers and sisters-in-law: Robert Kramer, Alfred and Gladys Kramer, Edgar and Clarice Kramer, Lorene Kramer, and Gertrude Kramer. She will be missed by her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 3 p.m. with Pastor Jim Abbott officiating. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville or the charity of your choice.
