Lorraine Knittel

Lorraine Burleson Knittel died December 9, 2010 in Bryan, Texas.

Lorraine was born in San Augustine, Texas on August 14, 1932 to Charles L. and Lura Steptoe Burleson. She was a graduate of San Augustine High School, attended Blinn College, and graduated from Chenier Business College in Beaumont, Texas. Lorraine worked as a legal secretary in Austin, Beaumont, Brenham and Giddings, Texas.

On September 3, 1950, Lorraine married Robert Thad Knittel, Jr. in Burton and became a member of the First Christian Church of Burton.

Lorraine will be remembered for her unfailing love for her family and friends. Lorraine’s devotion to her children and grandchildren gave her life purpose.

Survivors are: daughter, Mary Knittel Keng and husband Steven W. of Giddings; son, Robert Thad Knittel III, of Brenham; grandchildren, Wesley Thad Keng and wife Tish of Giddings, Jeremy Jacob Keng of Seattle, Washington, Stephanie Kay Keng of Giddings; great-grandchild, William Thad Keng of Giddings; sister-in-law Gertie Burleson of Port Arthur, Texas; niece, Lezlie Tolpo; a number of cousins and a world of friends, including the Friday Night Group.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband in 1973 and her parents and brother, Charles Burleson.

Her family will be receiving friends from 5- 7 p.m. Sunday, December 12, at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Graveside services will be held Monday, December 13, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Prairie Lea Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 3 P.M. at First Christian Church of Brenham with Rev. Gary Jeter officiating.
