Obituary

Lonnie Schulz, Jr., 74, of Brenham passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2007 in Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center.

Lonnie was born July 10, 1933 in Washington County to Lonnie Sr. and Hattie Gajeske Schulz and was baptized in the Lutheran faith. On March 7, 1965 he married Mary Mantey in Somerville. Lonnie was a machine operator for the Steadley Company until his retirement. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill. He was well known for his gardening.

His parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law Toney and Adeline Mantey, brothers-in-law George Hold, Edwin Mantey and infant twin sisters preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife Mary Schulz; son Jeffery Schulz and wife Tammy; daughter Debra Wagner and husband Daniel all of Brenham; 6 grandchildren Chandler, Marshall, Justin, Coy, Shelby and Chelsea; brother Floyd “Jack” Schulz of Brenham; sisters and brothers-in-law Kathleen Wiemken of Houston, Carol McAnally and husband Jerry, Lenora Bliznak and husband Vincent and Lorena Schroeder and husband Roy B. all of Brenham; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Clarence Mantey, Herbert and Ida Jean Mantey and Dorothy Mantey all of Somerville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Esther and Waldo Nienstedt of Burton; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 13, 2007 in Brenham Memorial Chapel with Pastor Virgil Pecht officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice, 302 E. Blue Bell Rd., Brenham, TX 77833 or St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill Building Fund, 8201 Old Gay Hill Road, Brenham, TX 77833.
