Obituary

Lillie Mae Wehman departed this life for her heavenly home on June 20, 2013. She was born February 6, 1922, in the Pleasant Hill community of Washington County to Walter Franz and Emma Charlotte Koester Bockhorn. Lillie Mae was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church by Reverend William Utesch. She was educated at Pleasant Hill School, Brenham High School and Blinn College. On November 13, 1941, she married her one love, Arthur Fred Wehman, at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Wehman lived in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma while Arthur was serving in the Navy during World War II. While living there, she contributed to the war effort by working at Douglas Aircraft wiring military aircraft. Upon Arthur’s return, they moved back to Texas where their only daughter, Scottie Lynn, was born. Mrs. Wehman was part owner of Wehman’s Texaco and Firestone Center and a founding co-owner of Brenham Office Supply Service. She was later employed in the Blinn College Student Center where she retired after 27 years of service.

Lillie Mae loved being a homemaker. She was an expert seamstress who enjoyed sewing for herself and family members. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Crocheting and crossword puzzles were her favorite past times. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and served for many years on the Cradle Roll.

Lillie Mae is preceded in death by her parents and her only brother, Harold Bockhorn. She is survived by her daughter, Scottie Lynn and husband, Dan Garland Davis. Affectionately she is known as Granny Way to her grandchildren: Sarah Lynn and husband Chris Thrower, Amy Elizabeth and Julie Anne Davis. She is lovingly referred to as “GG” by her great grandchildren: Dylan Jakob, Abigail Lynn, and Madison Lea Thrower. Also, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Frances Bockhorn and her children, Bruce and wife, Carobeth Bockhorn, Joyce and husband, Al Nelson, Grace and husband, Mike Glenn and their families plus a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held at 3pm on Sunday, June 23rd at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at the corner of 305 West Third Street and South Austin Street, Brenham. Reverend Phil Fenton will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bruce Bockhorn, Chris Colston, Amy and Julie Davis, Donovan Fort, Mike Glenn, Al Nelson, and Chris Thrower. Burial will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery.
