Leroy Henry Steinfeld

Leroy Steinfeld, 92, passed away Thursday, August 31 in College Station, Texas.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Saturday, September 2 in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, September 3 in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill with Pastor Kyle Merkel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Leroy was born January 12, 1925 in the Zionsville Community of Washington County to parents Charlie and Lillie (Gaskamp) Steinfeld. He was baptized May 22, 1925 in Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville by Rev. Karl Mueller and confirmed in the same church September 15, 1980 by Rev. J. Fred Mgebroff. On January 11, 1948, he was married to Emma Bell Loesch in Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn.

He worked for the City of Brenham in the maintenance department as a mason for 53 years, retiring in January 2002. He loved fishing, playing dominos and dancing and was involved in dance clubs.

His survivors include sons and daughter-in-law Roy Lee Steinfeld, Randy and wife Cathie Steinfeld; grandchildren Wade Steinfeld and Barbara Keith, Jason and Ashley Steinfeld, James and Heather Steinfeld, Kristy Lange, Candice and Bryan Shirley, Michael Steinfeld; sister Leatrice Kapchinski.

Leroy was preceded in death by wife Emma Bell Steinfeld on March 11, 2008, two brothers and three sisters.

Pallbearers will be Wade Steinfeld, Jason Steinfeld, James “BJ” Steinfeld, Michael Steinfeld, Brian Shirley, Tryston Steinfeld, Christian Naylor and Trenton Steinfeld. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandkids and great-grandkids.

Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church, Prairie Hill.
