Obituary

Lena (Sommerfeld) Rodenbeck age 96 of Brenham passed away Monday, October 3, 2005 in Trinity Medical Center.

Lena was born January 15, 1909 in the Gay Hill Community of Washington County to Julius and Bertha (Kurtz) Sommerfeld. She was married to Herbert T. Rodenbeck and a homemaker. Mrs. Rodenbeck was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham and a member of their Ladies Aid since 1967.

Her parents, husband, son-Franklin Rodenbeck; son-in-law Harold Tappe; sister Celesta Rosner, brothers Leslie, Willie, Ed, Melvin and Albert preceded her in death.

Her surviving family are daughters and sons-in-law Alice and Wilbert Thane of Washington, Texas, Virginia Tappe and Bettie and Charles Schramme; daughter-in-law Rosalie Renner and husband Kenneth all of Brenham; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one due in December; brother and sister-in-law Almot Sommerfeld and Sydonia; sister Lillie Weiss all of Brenham; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation with the Rodenbeck family will be held from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2005 in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 6, 2005 in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham with Pastors Lawrence Bade and Kim Little-Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Pallbearers are her grandsons, Kenneth Pospisil, Darrell Kulak, David Rodenbeck, Jack Field, Bruce Rodenbeck, Chad Schramme, Bubba Herrin and Danny Kurten. Honorary pallbearers are her great-grandsons.

Memorials may be given to Hospice or Ladies Aid of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
