Obituary

Lena Schulze Finke, 91 of the Prairie Hill community, passed away Monday, March 8, 2004 at her residence. Mrs. Finke was born June 17, 1912 in the Prairie Hill Community, Washington County, Texas the daughter of Charlie C.C. and Bertha Preuss Schulze. She was baptized October 6, 1912 in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill by Pastor F. Apfelbach and confirmed April 10, 1927 in the same church by Pastor Paul Gogolin. She attended Prairie Hill and Rocky Hill Schools. On December 8, 1938 she married Robert “Doodle” Finke at St. John Lutheran Church by Pastor Paul Gogolin. Mrs. Finke was a homemaker and also a nurse’s aid at Brenham Rest Home for nineteen years. She was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill.

Mrs. Finke was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert “Doodle” Finke, four brothers Edwin Schulze, Reinhardt Schulze, Bennie Schulze and Herbert Schulze and three sisters Frieda Deem, Ella Wellmann and Alvina Schulze.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Janet and Harry Wehring; son Jerry Finke; grandchildren Gerald and Laurie Wehring, Sherry and Johnny Randermann; great-grandchildren Jennifer Lynn and Jill Dawn Randermann and Jessica Nicole Wehring; step-great-grandson Joseph Farwell; sister Erna Finke; sister-in-law Ruby Schulze; numerous nieces and nephews; very special friends George and Sylvia Zupp; and special caregiver Beverly Schlabach.

Visitation with family will be from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 9, 2004 in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2004 in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill with Rev. Dr. Sue Beall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers are Kervin Finke, Bobby Finke, Herman Ahrens, Onis Finke, Herbert Schulze, Jr. and Freddie Wellmann. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Bunnell, Milton Janner, special friends George and Sylvia Zupp and special caregiver Beverly Schlabach.

Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill.
