Obituary
Julia Margaret Lovasz Tarr passed away December 8, 2003 at Kruse Village in Brenham. She was born September 26, 1917 to Vincent and Barbara Bodnar Lovasz in Brooklyn, New York.
During her lifetime Julia was a homemaker and she was employed as a secretary at Frederick Atkins Mercantile Co. in New York; Sears Roebuck & Company in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania; Duke University’s Post graduate Nursing Program and Psychiatry Department; the Department of Dermatology at SUNY in Buffalo; and MacGregor Medical Clinic Association in Houston. She was an active member in the music department of the churches she attended.
Julia and her husband Joe moved to Brenham in 1980 where she was employed by the Brenham Clinic. In her retirement years, she enjoyed working as a volunteer at St. Jude Hospital and playing the piano for the residents at Kruse’s Health Care Center. She loved music, making ceramics, traveling, playing bingo and a good book. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Brenham.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years Joseph Tarr, Jr.; her son Joseph Tarr III and her late life friend and companion Erwin A. Pavlik.
She is survived by her three daughters Jeanette L. Tarr of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Barbara Notari of Duncanville, Texas; Patty Poole and husband Danny Ogg of Houston, Texas; one brother Tom Lovasz and wife Vivian of Hollywood, Florida; daughter-in-law Fay Tarr of Cold Spring, Kentucky; six grandchildren Malisa Baumgard and husband Jerry of Cold Spring, Kentucky; Michelle Chudy and husband Mark, and Joseph Tarr IV and wife Angie of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; Matthew B. Notari and wife Theresa of Uvalde, Texas; Eric Notari of Duncanville, Texas; seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by Erwin’s four sons Lt. Col. Greg Pavlik and wife Patti of San Antonio; Stan Pavlik and Roger Pavlik of Snyder; and John Pavlik of Irving.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2003 at Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at Brenham Memorial Chapel with Dr. Wesley Welborn and Rev. Sam Duree officiating . Interment will follow in the Atkinson Cemetery in Chappell Hill.
Pallbearers are Matthew B. Notari and Eric Notari.
