Obituary
Joy Treude, 70, of Burton, peacefully passed away August 28, 2023 with her loving husband by her side.
Joy was born June 6, 1953 in Brenham to Harry and Evelyn (Mertz) Ullrich. She was baptized on November 26, 1953 and confirmed on April 3, 1966 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top. She attended Burton ISD and graduated in 1971. On June 3, 1972, she married Glenn Treude at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine. In 1974, they were blessed with the arrival of their first daughter, Gwen Dale, and four years later welcomed another daughter, Glenda Joy. While raising the girls, she also opened her home for child care. Joy was a loyal employee at Zing's Restaurant in Carmine, Round Top Mercantile, and Round Top Retreat. In recent years, she cleaned homes, offices, and event centers where she was meticulous and took great pride in her work.
One of Joy’s greatest pleasures was preparing Sunday lunch for her family. She looked forward to this weekly tradition that started with her mother. One of her favorite hobbies was attending her grandchildren's livestock shows and sporting events where she was a very passionate supporter and proud "Meme." She also was an avid Astros fan and loved watching them every chance she could. Always giving and thinking of others, Joy cared for her mother and sister during their greatest times of need. Her loyal dogs Lucy, Daisy and Copper, cat Olivia, and 10 red hens brought happiness and comfort to her days. She actively committed to local blood drives, generously donating at least 72 pints over her lifetime.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years Glenn Treude of Burton; daughters, Gwen Stork and husband Robbie of Carmine, and Glenda Oakes and husband Cassius of Winedale; grandchildren, Faith Stork and special friend Tanner Whitsel, Rylan Stork and special friend Charlee Wessels, and Drayton Oakes; siblings, Henry Ullrich and wife Chris, Edith Ullrich, and Ray Ullrich and wife Joann; sister-in-laws, Charlene Mueller and husband Charles and Darlene Weyand. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Joy is preceded in death by her parents, sister Marge Morris, parents-in-law Edwin and Elfrieda (Hinze) Treude, and brother-in-law ElGene Weyand.
