Josephine Helm

Josephine (Schindler) Helm, 91, of Cameron (formally of Brenham) passed away on September 26, 2023 at her home.

Josephine was born on July 31, 1932 to Edwin and Mary (Zernial) Schindler. She attended Brenham schools where she was a cheerleader in high school. After graduating from Brenham High School, she enrolled at Blinn College and studied business. She was a bank teller and worked at the courthouse. Josephine was a kind and loving lady who had a care giver heart, she loved visiting people at the nursing home, and seniors who were homebound. She loved stuffed animals and dogs but she loved her family the most and they loved her and she will be greatly missed by them.

Josephine is preceded in death by her husband, Louis; her sons, James (Russell) and Jeffrey Sommer and siblings, Lois “Dinky” Schindler and Edwin “Bubba” Schindler.

Left to cherish Josephine’s precious memory are her daughter-in-law Katharine Sommer; grandchildren AJ Sommer (Rhonda), Brett and Rheghan Sommer; step-gradchildren Jodee Rubac (Amanda), Brandy Rubac, Chancey Rubac (Brandy); great-grandchildren Ryder and Jenna Sommer; step great-grandchildren Avelynn, Elijah, Isaiah, Abigail, Maeson and Alaina. Special friends Shirley Sommer and Brenda Hrnicko and her army of caregivers.

A visitation for Josephine will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 5pm to 7pm at Brenham Memorial Chapel located at 2300 Stringer Street, Brenham, Texas. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 11 am at Prairie Lea Cemetery located at 1004 Prairie Lea Street, Brenham, Texas.

Memorials may be made to Josephine’s honor at any Animal Shelter of your choice.
