Obituary

John F. “PoPo” Sontag, age 78 of Burton, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at his residence. He was born January 22, 1927 in Houston to John and Lydia (Junek) Sontag. He graduated from Sam Houston High School and Massey Business College. On November 17, 1961 he married Joyce Gray in Houston. Mr. Sontag had been Vice President of Chicago Title Company for many years. He received Christ in June of 2004.

His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include wife Joyce Gray Sontag of Burton; son Johnnie Sontag, Jr. and wife Sonia of Del Rio; daughters Dena Gale Williams of Burton, Zena Dale Fisher and husband Tom of College Station and Janice Smith and husband Curtis of Baytown; brother Charlie Sontag of Burton; 6 grandchildren Trisha Sontag Hernandez of Mesquite, Christopher Sontag of California, Kelly Smith of Baytown, Zabrena Peroni and husband Ronnie of Eagle Lake, Candace Fisher and Courtney Fisher of College Station; 4 great-grandchildren Zalena Williams-Cada of Burton, Zamantha Peroni of Eagle Lake, Keegan Holmes of Boaz, Alabama and Marcus Hernandez of Mesquite.

Visitation with the Sontag family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2005 in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 2005 in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Brother Rudy Junek will officiate. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Curtis Smith, Charlie Sontag, Sr., Charlie Sontag, Jr., John Junek and Tom Junek.
