John Edward Lange

John Edward Lange, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away in his home in Brenham, Texas, June 12, 2024.

John was born August 21,1975, the second of David and Marilyn Lange’s three sons. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. John grew up in Brenham and attended Brenham schools where he made lifetime friends. Soon after graduating from Brenham High School, John began his almost 25-year career with Sealy Mattress Company.

John met Renee Bartkowiak in 1999, and they married on May 1, 2004. Reagan “Roo” was born in 2005 and Haileigh “Tootie” followed in 2007. John’s three girls were the center of his life. Renee and John built a home on a beautiful piece of property just outside Brenham, and John settled into to his favorite role—he was a family man. Although he could be counted on to help his family and friends whenever he was needed, his girls came first. He worked hard to provide for his family, to encourage them and to create a safe, secure home for them.

John loved hunting and fishing and all things outdoors. Weekend BBQs were a “given” at the Lange house where he never missed a Cowboys or Astros game. He spent years refining the “art” of making dry sausage and jerky, and his famous boiled crawfish were so hot they would burn your lips off! But his cooking skills went way beyond BBQ and crawfish. He could do Chinese, Italian, and German food with equal skill.

John is survived by his loving wife of twenty years, Renee Bartkowiak Lange, daughters Reagan and Haileigh; his parents David and Marilyn Lange, and brothers Dewayne Lange and wife Tennille, and Jason Lange and special friend Alyssa King; Renee’s parents Victor and Dorothy Bartkowiak, and his brothers-in-law Danny Bartkowiak and wife Claudia, and Russell Bartkowiak and wife Patsy, and numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Russell Bartkowiak, Ethan Boggan, Justin Carpenter, Walter Donnell, Randall Kohring, Jason Lange, Wyatt Morrison, and Wade Wellmann. Honorary pallbearers are Sealy Mattress employees.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 16, 2024 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 17, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham, Texas and burial will be at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Chappell Hill, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations to support John’s beloved children, Reagan and Haileigh, may be made to the Lange Memorial Fund at Citizens State Bank and/or to Washington County EMS for providing care and support during his journey.
