Obituary
Jerry Kieke passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024 in College Station, TX.
Jerry was born February 6, 1949 in Brenham, to Edwin and Anita (Dreyer) Kieke. He was baptized March 27, 1949 and confirmed June 2, 1963 both at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville. He attended Brenham schools and graduated in 1968. Jerry also attended Blinn College and received his Associates Degree in 1970. He then began work for Blue Bell Creameries in Brenham and retired after completing 42 years of service.
Jerry had a true servant's heart and a love for his family that was immeasurable. He loved his St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham and served his church well. Jerry was an active member of the congregation and helped with ushering, greeting, and assisting with communion.
Jerry was a fan of any athletic program that was going on in Washington County. He enjoyed all Brenham High School and Blinn College athletic programs. Jerry was named Buccaneer Backer of the Year in 2023. He supported the Little League and Little Dribblers programs as well.
Jerry was very active in the Margaret E. Blizzard Senior Activity Center. On Mondays, he delivered food to those confined to their homes. Jerry was also a member of the Jaycees and Brenham Elks Lodge #979 where he received the Outstanding Service Accommodation in 2023-2024.
He is preceded in death by: his parents Edwin and Anita Kieke, sister Janice Kieke, and sister-in-law Judy Kieke.
Jerry is survived by his twin brother Larry Kieke, sister Mary Lueckemeyer and husband Daryl; nieces and nephews Kelee Payton and husband Chad, Kyle Lueckemeyer and wife Aliceson, step niece Wendy Horak and husband Brian; great nieces and nephews Mallory, Luke, Noah Payton and Caleb, Samuel, Kate Lueckemeyer.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 30th from 8am until 7pm at Brenham Memorial Chapel with family present from 4pm until 7 pm.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 1st, 10am at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Donna Krueger officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Mertens, David Schomburg, Paul Kramer, John Bilski, Lloyd Schwarze, Dave Hellmann, Steve Rogers, and Tommy Lange. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle, Caleb, Samuel, and Kate Lueckemeyer and Chad, Mallory, Luke, and Noah Payton.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Margaret E. Blizzard Senior Activity Center.
