Jim Witte's mischievous smile and hearty laugh was contagious.
He was a special friend of mine since 1965 when we were in the same Jr. High Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, Texas City.
The last time we talked, laughed, and reminisced was on the phone, just a few days before his recent surgery. We spoke of some of our many adventures and misadventures together: most including that special 3rd amigo Charlie Davis. But, We also talked seriously about Jim's faith in God, his love of Carol, and his love of his little country church.
I can't think of Jim without smiling because he was so much fun to be around. There are some really funny stories I could tell, but unfortunately I leave today for a long planned family vacation to Glacier National Park and won't be able to attend his funeral.
Carol, please know that I am confident that Jim is in heaven. I believe he is happy, he is smiling, and he is waiting on us to join him when its our time as believers to cross over to the other side. May God grant you the peace that passes all understanding during this difficult time.

Shocked and saddened by Jim’s passing, but wondering if all his biblical studies have been made clear by Christ Himself!
We love you both and will see you on the heavenly roads one day. Peace and hope fill you. I remember “ God is right God is good.
