Hedwig Dekowski Stempuhowski

Hedwig Dekowski Stempuhowski, 80, formerly of Chappell Hill passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2005 in Trinity Care Center.

She was born October 5, 1924 to Henry and Mary Wrobleski Dekowski in Chappell Hill and was educated in Chappell Hill schools. On January 16, 1946 she was united in marriage to T.J. “Pat” Stempuhowski at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Chappell Hill by Msgr. John D. Wesolek. Hedwig was a homemaker and, for a short time, was employed by Chappell Hill Meat Market. She was a lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She was an avid gardener and took pride in her vegetables that she shared with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband T.J. “Pat” Stempuhowski on February 2, 2000, brothers Florian, Florenz, Fabian, twin sister Helen Hoffmann, sister Florence Grahmann.

Her loving family includes daughter JoAnne Horton and husband David, Sr. of Chappell Hill; grandchildren David Horton, Jr. and Sarah Horton of Chappell Hill, Michael Horton and wife Sabrina of Ashburn, Virginia, Angela Miller and husband Greg of Houston; 4 great-grandchildren; sister Martha Dekowski; sisters-in-law Kay Dekowski, Gertrude Kitowski, Bebian Loukanis and special pet companion Ginger.

An Altar Society Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, January 28, 2005 followed by a second Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. by Father Leonard in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

The Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2005 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Chappell Hill by Father Leonard Onwumere as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers are Mike Curry, Johnny Ray Krolczyk, Darrell Loukanis, Randall Stockton, Frank Stempuhowski and Mike Zawacki. Honorary pallbearers are her caring angels at Trinity Care Center.
