Obituary

Glen Alan Schroeder, age 76 of Brenham, passed away October 16, 2026.

Glen Alan was born in Brenham, Texas on April 17, 1950 to Roy H. and Dula (Lehmann) Schroeder. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham. He graduated from Brenham High School in 1968 and attended Blinn College and Sam Houston State University.

Glen Alan grew up competing in sports, finding his niche and passion for rodeo in the event of calf roping. At age 14, he purchased his first horse and began teaching himself to rope and tie calves. He gave much credit to the support of family, friends and mentors in helping with his achievements including the 1968 Texas High School Rodeo Calf Roping Championship, College National Finals Qualification and competing in Professional Rodeos throughout Texas and the Midwest.

He shared his enthusiasm for sports by coaching and supporting his sons and their teams. Countless hours were spent in the practice pen and limitless miles were traveled to take them to compete. To assure a positive future and opportunity for children to compete in rodeos, he accepted leadership positions for the Youth Rodeo Association (YRA), Texas Youth Rodeo Association (TYRA), Region VII High School Rodeo and Texas High School Rodeo Association Board of Directors. In addition, he volunteered on the Washington County Fair Board, was a member of the Elks Club and Exchange Club.

As a young man, Glen began a career in the flooring business and eventually founded Schroeder Floor and Cabinet Tops. He worked in that business with individuals and contractors in the local and surrounding areas, building countless relationships. In 2011, a chronic autoimmune disease caused a premature retirement after 40 years of service to the community. Although physically impaired by this debilitating disease, he continued to address every new challenge with optimism, courage and strength. His will to persevere, never gave up and “find a way” were traits possessed all along, but that work ethic was much more evident and appreciated as his illness progressed. He still found a way to keep and grow his Faith, find humor and maintain a mental strength that cannot be rivaled.

Glen Alan is survived by: sons Jay and wife Krissy, Cas and wife Channa, also grandchildren Ana, Gunnison, Autumn Belle and Baron Schroeder, Bay Lynn Schroeder all of Brenham; sister-in-law, Lorena Schroeder; niece Kelly Flisowski and husband Kevin; nephew Ryan Schroeder and wife Jennifer; and numerous cousins.

He would speak fondly of the many friendships that were made over the years. In a world that seemed to grow smaller by the limits of illness. The visits, calls, well wishes and prayers were so much appreciated by Glen Alan and his family.

A special thank you is to be shared with neighbors, Jack and Sophie Murski and Kenneth and Vickie Farmer for their friendships and all of the assistance, especially in the last 15 years.

We are appreciative of the relationships developed in medical treatment from Methodist Hospital Apheresis Department, Dr. Milvia Pleitez, Scott and White Hospital, TIRR Memorial Hermann Rehabilitation, Encompass Rehabilitation, and Washington County EMS.
