Florence "Flo" Schwartz

Florence “Flo” Schwartz, 82, of Brenham passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025 with family by her side.

Florence also known as Flo was born in the William Penn Community on December 25, 1942 to Adolph and Sophie (Koehne) Krueger. She was a graduate of Brenham High School. She married Leon Schwartz on April 1, 1962 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn. Flo was a devoted wife, companion in life and a loving mother to their three sons Leon Allan, Mark Lee and Neal Scott.

Flo was a remarkable woman who wore many hats. She and Leon owned and operated Cattleman’s Supply Feed Store for many years. In later years, Flo worked part-time at Cattleman’s Brenham Livestock Auction where she truly made an impact by visiting with their customers. Her talent for writing, especially “Whispers from the North” for the Brenham Banner Press, is a testament to her creativity and desire to stay connected with the community. Whether it was a birthday, a holiday, or just a simple note to brighten someone's day, those cards were probably a small but significant way she left a lasting impact on everyone around her. She will be remembered for sending out all those precious cards.

She is preceded in death by: her beloved son Leon Allan Schwartz; grandson Tanner Lee Schwartz; parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Lydia Schwartz; brothers Lonnie, Herman and Waldo Krueger; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Leroy and Shirley Schwartz, Nolan, Lynne, and Marcy Schwartz, Jeaninne Schwartz.

Left to cherish Flo’s memories are husband of 62 years; sons and daughters-in-law Mark and Shannon Schwartz, Scottie and Abby Schwartz; grandchildren Kelsey (Kyler) Crenshaw, Addie (Colton) Luetge, Carter (Hadley) Schwartz, Clayton (Fiancé Lacey Wheaton) Schwartz; great-grandchildren Riley and Avery Crenshaw, Laiken Luetge and Kodi Schwartz; brother-in-law John Jr. Schwartz; sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Melvin Ashorn.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 8:00am until 7:00pm at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Family will be present from 5:00pm until 7:00pm.

Funeral service will be Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 10:30am at the Cowboy Church of Brenham with Pastors Marty Mosher and Tim Webb officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are, Carter Schwartz, Clayton Schwartz, Gordon Schwartz, Chet Schwartz, Trevor Schwartz, Jason Ashorn, Michael Eckert and Kevin Glenz. Honorary pallbearers will be Cattleman’s Supply and Cattleman’s Brenham Livestock Auction.

The Schwartz family would like to extend a special thanks to Carolyn Coleman, Niece, Nett, Kim and Sabrina for the compassionate care that was shown to Flo and her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill or charity of choice.
