Erwin Kelm, Jr.

Erwin Kelm, Jr., 82 of Brenham, passed away June 18, 2024.

Erwin was born August 15, 1941 in Brenham to Erwin and Emmie (Niemeyer) Kelm. He was baptized October 5, 1941 by Rev. John Striepe and confirmed April 14, 1957 by Rev. Paul Fischer at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill, where he remained a lifelong member. Erwin attended Hoddeville and Harrisburg schools. He worked on the family farm, while also building fences in the area. He raised vegetables and canned them. For 20 years, Erwin worked for Green Grain.

He enjoyed playing and watching baseball. Fishing and playing cards, especially Poker and Pitch, were also favorite past times.

Surviving family includes: sister Betty Carter of Iola; nephews and nieces Janet and Roger Swinner, Charles Carter, Rhonda and Russell Bentke, Steven and Maggie Kelm, Sharon and Lang Flisowski, Ryan and Megan Kelm; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by: parents; brother and sister-in-law Freddie and Ora Nell Kelm and brother-in-law Clifford Carter.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 20th from 11 am until 7 pm at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 21st at 10 am at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Ryan Kelm, Steven Kelm, Reece Kelm, Landon Flisowski, Lang Flisowski and Russell Bentke. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Carter and Roger Swinner.

Memorials are requested to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
