Erna Grawunder, 89 of Brenham, passed away Monday, September 1, 2008 in Trinity Medical Center.
She was born July 18, 1919 in Washington County to Louis and Clara (Weidner) Naumann. She was baptized November 23, 1919 in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill and confirmed March 25, 1937 in Salem Lutheran Church of Salem. She attended Pleasant Hill School. On June 15, 1947, she married Erwin Grawunder in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg. Mrs. Grawunder was a homemaker and enjoyed vegetable gardening, canning, cooking, sewing, quilting, dancing, and domino and card playing. Mrs. Grawunder was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Salem and involved in Ladies Aid.
She was preceded in death by: brothers Herbert Naumann, Arnold Naumann; sister and brothers-in-law Elsie and Otto Kemper, Daniel Kelling.
Survivors include: her husband of 61 years Erwin Grawunder; daughter Dorothy McDermott and husband Charles Wade of Houston; granddaughter Kristin McDermott Bourgeois and husband Stephen of Rocheport, Missouri; sisters and brothers-in-law Lillie Mae and Johnnie Kramer, Nora and Lee Roy Meier, Ruth Kelling all of Brenham; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Ruby Naumann, Evelyn Naumann, Ewald and Alice Grawunder all of Brenham, Verlyn Smith, Allyne and Eddie Pollard, Gladys and Bernard Hurbrough all of Houston; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, September 3, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 2 p.m. in Salem Lutheran Church of Salem. Rev. Lydia Paterson and Rev. Charles Parnell will officiate. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Otto Kemper, Kenneth Kramer, Donald Lee Meier, Darrel Roy Meier, Ronald Kelling, P.C. Moller, Jeff Appel, and Lonnie Grawunder. Honorary pallbearers will be Veril and Barbara Dietzmann, Gary Haevischer, Howard and Elverda Kiecke, Clemence and Doris Weiss, Louis, Jr. and Dorothy Winkelmann, Robert, Jr. and Ellen Wilhelmsen, Nancy Rosenbaum, Woodrow and Joan Free.
Memorials may be given to Salem Lutheran Church of Salem or Brazos Valley Hospice.
