Obituary

Harold Robert Andersen, 89, of Weaverville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025. Born on July 17, 1935, Hal was raised in Chicago and graduated from the University of Illinois with a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM). After earning his degree, Hal served as a professor of podiatric medicine at the University of Illinois. Hal moved to Texas in 1961, serving as DPM in Spring Branch before moving to Brenham in 1970. For the next 46 years, Hal was a dedicated and compassionate podiatrist, serving the Brenham community until his retirement at the age of 81.

Beyond his medical practice, Hal was a committed community member. He served as a Scoutmaster and was an active member of the Brenham Rotary Club. Hal had a deep love for the outdoors, enjoying time on his cattle ranch, traveling the world, and dedicating himself to his family and patients.

Hal is survived by Tim Bevelacqua of Weaverville, NC; Christopher Hal Andersen of Brenham; Lorraine Brenda Andersen of Houston. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Courtney Janez, Canyon Andersen, and Jacob McCaftey, and his great grandchildren, David and Isabel Janez.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Jean Andersen; his daughter Kimberly Andersen, and his sister, Dorothy Christman.

A celebration of Hal’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Brenham Memorial Chapel in Brenham, Texas.

Hal will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family, his profession, and his community.
