Obituary

Dr. Barry Linden passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 30th at 1 p.m. at Brenham's First Baptist Church (original location)304 N. Market St., Brenham, TX 77833.

Barry Eugene Linden was born August 2, 1954 in Sweetwater, Texas to Carl H. and Mary (Greenwood) Linden. He grew up in Austin and attended Reagan High School. He served three years in the U.S. Army at Ft. Hood, Texas. While in the Army, he worked as an Operating Room Surgical Technician alongside an Ear, Nose and Throat surgeon. This experience would greatly inspire his future career trajectory. In 1979, he graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with honors, followed by The University of Texas Medical School in Houston in 1983. After medical school, Dr. Linden completed his residency at UT Medical School in Houston, completing two years of general surgery and three years of otolaryngology. In 1989, Dr. Linden completed a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. He then joined the faculty of LSU Medical School in Shreveport, Louisiana followed by four years in private practice otolaryngology in Hendersonville, Tennessee. In 1994, he and his family returned home to Texas to join the Brenham Clinic. He had his own private practice in Brenham until retiring in 2012. He was passionate about his chosen profession and loved helping the people of Brenham and the surrounding areas during the years he practiced.

On February 9, 1985, Barry married Lisa Ann Peterson. A registered nurse, she supported him in his practice while they raised their children. They enjoyed thirty-seven years of marriage filled with wonderful times with their large family.

Barry was an avid woodworker and lifelong gardener. He had a deep love of nature and animals, which he also instilled in his four children. He loved birds and had many parrots over the years. He loved to hatch quail in an effort to repopulate his farm with the birds. A voracious reader, he read countless books of all genres. He loved fishing and hunting with his three sons and listening to all types of music, especially opera and bluegrass. He loved taking road trips across the United States with his daughter visiting National Parks and Civil War historical sites. He loved vacationing on the Gulf Coast in Destin and his most favorite place, Pensacola, Florida.

Preceding him in death: parents, sister Karen Barton, and brother Mark Linden.

Surviving family includes: wife Lisa Ann Linden; children Barry Eugene Linden, Jr. and wife Leigh of Brenham, Sarah Elizabeth Linden McBee and husband David of Denton, Matthew Austen Linden and wife Christin of Southlake, Michael Travis Linden and wife Monique of Roanoke; grandchildren Brinley, Braydon, Norah, Oliver, Liv Linden; sister Denise Grosch and husband Paul of Austin; brother-in-law Paul Barton of Round Rock; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Pam and Ronnie Bilnoski of The Woodlands and Aunt Norma Linden of Greenville ; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend and buddy of 28 years, Raymond Carter.
