Dorothy Niemeyer

Dorothy Niemeyer, 83 of Brenham, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009 at her home.

She was born July 23, 1925 to August and Agnes (Bentke) Lange in Independence, TX and attended Prairie Hill School. She was baptized on August 23, 1925 and confirmed on May 26, 1940 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill. On January 27, 1946, she married Ben H. Niemeyer in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. Mrs. Niemeyer was employed by Perry Brothers for 19 years and by Walmart for 14 years. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers, August “Sonny” Lange and Edwin “Boots” Lange; sisters, Ella Mae Bohac and Evelyn Koehne; half brother Willie Lange and half-sister Matilda Franke; nieces and nephew Patsy Zwahr, Lydia Marie Zwahr and Gilbert Koehne.

Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Ben H. Niemeyer; sisters-in-law Lydia Lange of Brenham and Mary Lange of Oklahoma; nieces and nephews Linda and Milton Hueske, Karen and Larry Kopecky, David and Marilyn Lange, Donald Lee and Carolyn Lange, Keith and Linda Bohac, Wallie Zwahr and Darleen Koehne along with numerous great and great-great nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be Friday, March 20, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 2 p.m. in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill with Rev. David Hansen officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers Milton Hueske, Larry Kopecky, Jared Kopecky, David Lange, Keith Bohac and Darrell Zwahr.

Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill or Hospice.

Services are in the care of Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer, Brenham.
