Obituary
Dorothy Lou Roberson Crowson was born December 31, 1934 at her grandparent’s house between Bedias and Iola, Texas. She passed away peacefully at Silver Sage Assisted Living on December 9, 2023.
She spent most of her life in Bedias, except for the 42 years that she spent teaching school in Port Lavaca, Iola, and Brenham. Dorothy graduated as the valedictorian from Bedias High School, where she was also crowned Homecoming Queen. She went on to attend Sam Houston State University and Texas A&M University. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Ray Crowson, in 1957. They both worked in education up until their retirement. Don and Dorothy enjoyed 59 years of marriage before Don’s death in 2015. Dorothy was an active member of the Bedias Church of Christ. Her joy was taking care of her grandchildren. She loved teaching school and specifically teaching young children to read. She had a passion for sewing and quilting. She could always tell you when the Astros were playing and would go watch her grandchildren play sports whenever she was able.
She is survived by her two sons and their spouses, Dr. Dennis and Melissa Crowson, and David and Kristi Crowson of Brenham, Texas; Grandchildren Wiley and Veronica Crowson of Kingsville, Margaret and Greg Melton of Houston, Alli and Robert Stark of Brenham, and Charli Crowson of Brenham; Great grandchildren Aubrey Crowson of Kingsville and Alice Melton of Houston; Brother, Dr. Cliff (Gene) Roberson of Houston and Sister, Marilyn Ash of Houston.
