Obituary

Delores “Dee” Louise (Nielsen) Wylie, 94, passed away on February 12, 2025.

Dee was born on April 14, 1930 to Herbert and Mareta (Isaacson) Nielsen in Chambers, Nebraska. She graduated from Spalding College in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing; and again in 1981 with a Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Psychology. Dee went to work in the healthcare field as a registered nurse. She served in the Navy as an RN and continued to expand her clinical expertise through various nursing fields throughout her career.

Dee loved music, especially playing the piano and guitar; she had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She enjoyed reading autobiographies, keeping up with current events, completing crosswords, watching baseball and classic films, and playing bridge. Dee adored nature and natural beauty. She lived close to the beach for many years of her life and felt a strong connection to the ocean. Dee cherished the sound of the waves; watching sunrise and sunset; and delightful scent of roses in bloom. Her curious mind was fascinated with psychology and the realm beyond; and she loved to participate in spiritual activities such as prayers, meditation, reading and expanding her religious beliefs and worldviews about the afterlife. Dee always gave the best hugs; and had a special gift for making people feel welcomed and loved.

Dee is preceded in death by parents; siblings Herb Nielsen, Harold Nielsen and Kay Nielsen Knigge.

Left to cherish her memories are her children Diann Marley Marek (Bobby Marek), John David Wylie (Stephanie Wylie) and Jill King (Jason King). Grandchildren Shannon Marley, Erin Marley Braunstein (Marcelo Braunstein), Jack Marley, Tennessee King Allgood (Michael Allgood), Carolina Mimi King, Georgia King, Matthew Wylie (Katy Wylie) and David Wylie (Lexi Bowman); Great-Grandchildren Sadie Allgood, Hank Allgood, and Thomas John Wylie.

We will miss you, Dee; and you’ll live on forever in our hearts.
