David Wayne Berckenhoff

David Wayne Berckenhoff, age 63, of Brenham passed away December 6, 2024.

David was born on December 1, 1961 in Houston, Texas to Jimmie and Delores (Berger) Berckenhoff. David graduate in 1980 from Waltrip High School in Houston. David met Karen Dean at a dancehall in Houston and they married June 1, 1991. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. After 20 plus years of dedicated work, David retired from Carson Supply Company in Bellaire, Texas.

David was a simple man who enjoyed life and valued family above all. He grew up in the Oak Forest neighborhood of Houston, but he cherished the summers he spent with his grandparents in Shiner, Texas. He had a deep love for polka, country, and zydeco music. You could often find him with a Miller Lite in hand, listening to his favorite tunes. David’s greatest joy was fishing, especially freshwater fishing, which he enjoyed with his grandsons. On Good Friday, he would take them fishing, and they would return home for a fish fry. These traditions became treasured memories for his family, especially his grandsons. Known and loved by all, David was never a stranger to his neighbors. He considered them family and enjoyed taking rides around the neighborhood in his golf cart, always stopping for a chat and a friendly smile.

David is preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Left to cherish his memories are daughter Rebecca (Jerame) Redden; grandchildren Jerry (Aracely) Redden, Bryce (Kaleigh) Redden, Jaxen Redden; great-grandchildren Derek, Jordan, Jerry “Jr.”, Aria, Kayce and Brynlee Redden; siblings Barbara (Gary) Mattiza and Randy (Marie) Berckenhoff; along with numerous nieces and nephews; and his best pal Hunter, his yellow lab.

Funeral services for David will be Friday, December 20, 2024 at 2:00pm at Brenham Memorial Chapel with Deacon Steve Medina officiating. Burial will follow at Chappell Hill Masonic Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Jerame Redden, Jerry Redden, Bryce Redden, Jaxen Redden, Jake Berckenhoff, John Phillips, Jr., Jim Phillips. Honorary Pallbearers are Randy Berckenhoff, Gary Mattiza, Ricky Bohack and Justin Henderson.
