Obituary

Cynthia Hill, 76, of Chappell Hill embarked on her final journey home Thursday, December 26, 2024, in College Station, TX.

Cynthia was born September 4, 1948, in Brenham, TX to Willie Schaer Jr., and Bobbie Campbell Schaer. She spent the majority of her primary school years in Baytown, TX and then finished her high school education in Centerville, TX when the family relocated for Willie’s work. Cynthia obtained her Associates of Arts in Liberal Arts from Lon Morris
Junior College in 1968 and then spent a year continuing her secondary education at Texas A&M. As a chemist, Cynthia spent her adulthood working for various companies including the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Texas Refinery Corporation, Xerox Corporation, and Texas Instruments/Raytheon.

Cynthia’s later love of John Wayne’s McClintock and Howard the Duck were equally matched by her earlier love for riding horses, reading romance novels, painting with oil paints, and gardening. She spent many years taking care of her beloved cat Schnuffy and had a fascination with collecting crystal animals, nice jewelry, and other items.

Despite her diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, Cynthia’s fierce independence and courageousness led to her taking each decrease in ability in stride and finding compromises to remain self-sufficient until she was no longer able.

She is preceded in death by; parents Willie Schaer Jr., and Bobbie Campbell Schaer. She is survived by her sister Susan Prewitt and husband Michael Prewitt; Nephew Billy Prewitt and wife Lori Prewitt, niece Courtney Prewitt and wife Melissa Prewitt; Great niece Emma Prewitt and great nephew Peyton Prewitt; along with many cousins, friends, and loved ones.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 4th, 2025, from 12 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Brent Sims officiating. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery at Chappell Hill, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to SPCA, St. Jude, or Shriners, her favorite charities.
