Obituary
Chad Taylor Church, age 36, of Brenham, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025. Chad was born January 18, 1989, to Brett Church & Shelley Nave Brakefield. At a young age Chad and his family moved to Brenham where he resided most of his life. Chad lived life to the fullest. He never met a stranger, and wherever he landed, he made lifelong friends. Those who were fortunate enough to know him experienced his greatest gift: the ability to make people laugh and smile. Chad was a person with a huge heart, always wearing a smile that truly defined him.
Family was everything to Chad. He always wanted to know what was happening with everyone in his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His warmth, laughter, and love created lasting memories that will forever be treasured by all who knew him.
As a young boy, Chad loved playing baseball on Tracye Lee with the neighborhood kids, and forging friendships that lasted a lifetime. His love for sports carried into adulthood, where he remained a dedicated fan of the Astros and Cowboys. Chad also had a deep affection for his cats, finding joy and companionship in their playful antics. His love for animals was a true reflection of his gentle spirit. As Chad grew older, he found a passion in tattoos and began to express himself through the art of ink. His tattoos were more than just body art, they were symbols of his experiences, his passions, and his love for life. Each piece told a unique story, whether it was a nod to his favorite memories or a tribute to his loved ones. Through tattoos, Chad found another way to connect with the world around him, always seeking to capture moments and emotions that were meaningful to him.
Chad was preceded in death by: his grandparents, Margaret “Margie” Church and Forrest Eugene “Gene” Moss.
He was survived by: his daughters, Stella Rose Church and Hailee Di’Ann Church; parents, Brett (Mary Kathryn) Church, Shelley (Jon) Brakefield; brothers, Sean (Brittney) Church, Josh (Rachel) Church, Ryan Singleton, Reid (Marissa) Singleton; sister, Brianna Brakefield; nephew, Jake Church and niece, Gracelynn Singleton; grandparents, Terry (Susan) Church, Diane “DD” Johnson (Tom) Cook, Betty Moss; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A visitation will be held Monday, March 3, 2025, from 8:00am until 7:00pm at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Family will be present from 5:00pm until 7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an account set up under Stella Church's name at ACU in Brenham.
