Obituary

Carroll Bruce Drummond, 70, left this world to go to his Heavenly home with his Lord and Savior, after a brief illness, on Friday, June 16, 2023.

Bruce was born on April 9, 1953, to Carroll and Marjorie (Trammel) Drummond. He grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. Bruce graduated from Carroll High School in 1971 and went on to Texas A&M at Corpus Christi and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1976. He met his wife of 47 years, Karen Harrison, in April 1975 and they married in June of 1976. They have two daughters, Kelli and Erin. He worked in the oil and gas industry most of his career. He started in South Texas and was relocated to Brenham, Texas in 1993. He was an usher and member of First Baptist Church in Brenham for 30 years.

Bruce’s favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing and being outdoors, where he felt most connected to God. A favorite place for him was the Stanley Ranch (or “The Farm”, as he called it) in Burton. He loved going out to his deer blind to spot deer and turkeys. If you knew him very well, you knew his favorite color was camo. When the weather was right, you could always find him fishing on Lake Somerville. In his retirement he stayed busy, as he was not one to sit at home. You could find him mowing the neighbor’s lawn, woodworking or rooting the Aggies on.

Bruce never met a stranger. He would call everyone just to see how they were doing. He called everyone whether he knew them or not by their first name. A true man of his word, he was always willing to help out anyone in need.

Bruce was preceded in death by parents, Carroll and Marjorie Drummond and sister-in-law, Laura Dyanne Drummond.

Bruce is survived by: wife, Karen Drummond; daughters and sons-in-law, Kelli and Gregory Dodge and Erin and Bryan Parks; brother, Jim Bob Drummond; four grandsons, which he was lovingly known to them as “Paw Paw”, Hunter Dodge, Hayden Dodge, Logan Parks, and Mason Parks.

He is also survived by: mother-in-law, Miriam Harrison; brothers-in-law, Wayne Harrison and Keith Harrison; sisters-in-law, Shannon McBurney, Marion Loveless and Lisa Harrison; along with numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held for Bruce on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 10:30 am at Brenham's First Baptist Church at 304 N Market Street, Brenham, Texas.
