Brigadier General (ret.) Woodrow "Woody" Free

My thoughts and prayers to the family. I always enjoyed talking to Woody and Joan. He was a great guy. Thinking of Joan and her family.

My sincere condolences to the entire Free family. Woody, as he said to call him was the face of the 420th Engineer Brigade for so long. He was always so kind and gracious to all who came into contact with him. He lead by example, a true leader. He earned his place in Heaven with all the good he did while here on earth. May the Free family in the days ahead reflect on the many fond memories of his life, and remember, that no one dies until the last one who knew him speaks their name. I know I will see him again!

You might not remember me but I was the 420th chemical officer for many years in the 1980s and early 1990s. I just wanted to express my condolences to you and your family and let you know that your dad meant a lot to me. I will always remember his staunch support for those in his command and his constant kind and friendly nature. He was a great officer.
