Obituary

Brian A. Fischer, 80 of Burton, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013 at the College Station Medical Center. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 30th from 6-8 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 31st at 2 p.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg with Pastor Denise Seymour officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Brian was born November 10, 1932, in the Rehburg Community to Alvin and Floy (Broesche) Fischer. He was baptized January 1, 1933 by Rev. C.A. Lehne and confirmed March 30, 1947 by Rev. R.J. Weber both at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg. He attended Rehburg School and was a graduate of Burton High School Class of 1950 and Blinn College. After serving two years in the US Army, Brian continued his education at the University of Texas. In 1957, he received his business degree. Brian was married to Virginia Ellermann on April 24, 1960 in St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill. He was a rancher and farmer before beginning his long banking career. Brian started work at Burton State Bank January 2, 1967. He was president of the bank and chairman of the board for many years and retired in 2000. He served on the Burton State Bank Board of Directors for 44 years. Brian was a part of the Burton State Bank 100th Anniversary Celebration.

Brian was a lifelong faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg. He served on council there. He was a member of the University of Texas Ex Students Association and the American Legion. Brian loved spending time with his family and cherished his four granddaughters. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by: parents, brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Mary Fischer; parents-in-law, Charles and Alma Ellermann; brothers-in-law, Billy Ellermann, Elwood Wehring.

Surviving loving family includes: wife, Virginia Fischer; daughter, Linda Schulte; son Darrell Fischer and wife Andrea; granddaughters, Melanie Schulte, Allison Stoner and husband Jeremy, Morgan Fischer, Emily Fischer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charlie and Melva Ellermann, Eloise Wehring, Sandra and Ralph Becker; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins; special friends, Virginia Roberts and family.

His pallbearers will be: David Fischer, Ricky Fischer, Larry Goldberg, Jim Kiel, Ralph Becker, Roger Schulte, Glenn Roberts and E.J. Muehlbrad. Honorary pallbearers are all past and present directors and employees of Burton State Bank.
