Barbara (Tyson) Wise

The World lost a beloved and talented soul on Saturday. Barbara Tyson Wise died on December 30, 2023. She was 84 years old.

Barbara was born on December 15, 1939, in Coshocton, Ohio to Helen (Erman) Tyson and Eldred P. Tyson.

She is survived by her daughter, Monique (Wise) Byrne, and husband G. Bland Byrne of Atlanta, GA; son Derek A. Wise and wife Dawn (Benson) Wise of Brenham, TX, and grandchildren Laura Wise of Victoria, TX, Desiree Wise of Brenham TX, and Monique “Nikki” Byrne of Atlanta, GA; and sister Pati (Tyson) Redmond of Greensboro, NC.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Lee Wise in 2018.

Barbara graduated from Jefferson High School as Class President and Valedictorian in 1958 and then got a degree in Fine Arts at Ohio State University in 1960. She was a member of Phi Mu Sorority at OSU.

Ronald Wise and Barbara Tyson were married on September 14, 1958. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 14, 2018. They loved to travel, were in many organizations, volunteered, and doted on their grandchildren in their retirement years.

Barbara was a teacher and an extraordinarily talented artist all her life. She could do it all, from every type of needlework to award winning sewing projects, from painting in oil to caning wicker chairs. Her most recent passion has been making quilts for her family and friends. In 2023 alone, she designed and created over 30 full size quilts that will be treasured by all those lucky enough to receive them.

There will be a Memorial Service in Summer 2024 in Coshocton, Ohio.
