Amelia Hannes Schroeder, 96, of Brenham died Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village in Brenham.
Mrs. Schroeder was born July 12, 1910, in Lincoln, Lee County, Texas, the third child of eight children born to Oswald and Martha Gloyna Hannes. She was a life-long member of the Lutheran faith. She was baptized as an infant in Lincoln and confirmed June 8, 1924, in the St. John Evangelical Reformed Lutheran Church of Old Dime Box, Texas.
On May 11, 1929, she was married to Otto H. Schroeder in the Evangelical United Christ Church in Birch, Texas. This union was blessed with three children, Joyce, Angeline and Otto.
Amelia was a homemaker, gardener, and gifted seamstress. She will lovingly be remembered by her children and grandchildren for the beautiful hand made quilts she gave each of them. She never ceased to learn. On many occasions she expressed her appreciation for what she had learned as a dedicated member of the Washington County Home Demonstration Club for thirty-one years.
Survivors include her daughter Joyce and husband Dr. Murphy Nelson of Austin; her daughter Angeline Eckermann of Houston; her daughter-in-law Ann Schroeder of Cedar Park; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; sister Martha Urban of LaGrange; sister-in-law Leona Hannes of Giddings and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Otto H. Schroeder; her son Otto Hannes Schroeder; son-in-law Wilfred O. Eckermann; brothers Herman, Albert and Louis Hannes; sisters Edna Harzke, Alene Lerche and Minnie Michalk.
The family will receive visitors Thursday, April 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 in the evening at Brenham Memorial Chapel.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 27 at Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church, 356 South Berlin Road, Brenham, Texas 77833 with Pastor Teresa Davis officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.
Memorials may be given to Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church, Hospice or a charity of your choice.
