Roland Ziese

Roland Ziese, 84 of Brenham, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2004.

He was born November 24, 1919 in Fayette County, Texas to Henry and Johanna Albers Ziese. On April 11, 1920 he was baptized and confirmed on April 16, 1934 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Warrenton, Texas. Roland graduated from Fayetteville High School Class of 1937; attended Draughan’s Business College from 1937 – 1939 and attended the University of Houston. He served in the Army Air Corp and was a member of Sons of Hermann Lodge #6, VFW Post 7104 and 90th Bomb Group Association. On August 7, 1948 he married Dorothy Mae Guilfoyle in Houston. He was an accountant for Murray Rubber in Houston.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Henrietta Ziese, Helmuth Ziese, Nola Wunderlich and Nelda Wunderlich.

His survivors include his wife Dorothy Mae Ziese; sons Paul Ziese and wife Lynn of San Antonio, Texas and Charles Ziese of MoonTownship, Pennsylvania; 5 grandchildren Rachel, Jonathan, Timothy, James and Charles K. Ziese.

Visitation with family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 15, 2004 at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 16, 2004 at Christ Lutheran Church in Brenham with Pastor Arnon Lundborg, officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.

Memorials may be given to Christ Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund.
