Obituary
E.M. Rogers, age 90 of Brenham, passed away Friday, November 2, 2007 at his home with family by his side.
He was born October 24, 1917 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Ernest Meek and Maude Sherrod Rogers. On April 27, 1973 he married Lula M. Whetstone in Houston. He served in the United States Army. He was employed with Shell Oil Company for 36 years. Mr. Rogers was a member and usher at Brenham’s First Baptist Church. His community service affiliations included: Bread Partners; hospital volunteer for 30 years, Texas Children’s Hospital lifetime member, St. Jude Hospital and Trinity Medical Center; Boy Scout leader for 25 years; and member of American Legion Buddy Wright Post #48.
He delighted in his grandchildren and enjoyed hunting with his son, golfing and fishing.
His parents and siblings Thelma, Kathryn and Helen preceded him in death.
Survivors include his loving wife Lula “Lou” Rogers of Brenham; son Dr. Thomas Ray Rogers and wife Peggy of Temple; daughters Carol Samuelson Yates of Bryan, Kathy Walters and husband Jerry of Tyler; grandchildren Scott Rogers and wife Erin, Sara Rogers, Diane Sykes and husband Jeremy, Laura Samuelson, Melissa Hopson and husband Keith, Jerry Walters III and wife Christian; great-grandchildren Isaiah Keith Hopson, Mary Elizabeth Hopson, Marley Lynn and Audrey Lynn Walters.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 10, 2007 in Brenham Memorial Chapel with Rev. Stephen Ponder officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to Hospice or Trinity Medical Center.
